Teenagers! The teenage years are a time when most often young people begin to go through the transformation from childhood to adulthood. The main emphasis in educating teenagers centers on experiential learning as well as “content learning.” We want teenagers to understand and experience the faith in a more adult way and we also want to provide them with opportunities to try out more “adult” roles such as being an acolyte, lector, or assisting with the younger children in Faith Expressions.
Confirmation Classes – Confirmation classes meet periodically as a way of educating teenagers and adults in the rudiments of the faith. Typically these classes take place prior to the visitation by the Bishop, which happens at least every three years. After teenagers have “confirmed” their faith by taking their own baptismal vows and have had hands laid on them by the Bishop, they are considered adult Christians in the Church. Youth Group / Diocesan Events – Each year the Middle School and High School youth have opportunities to be a part of a “youth group” in the Parish. Some years groups meet frequently (once a week) and other years they meet only for special events. Our youth leader is Gretchen Jones, please see the STAFF PAGE for her contact information. The Diocese of Central New York runs several Youth Events each year. |
