Emmanuel Outreach

Stained Glass Window of JesusJesus calls the Church, as his followers, to care for those in the world in which they live.  We call this work “outreach”.  It includes our efforts to reach people in need that are not currently a part of the Parish and it involves everything from assistance with finding and obtaining housing to helping provide food through Our Daily Bread Food Closet to using any resources the Parish has to help those in need.

The number of persons in need seems to be on the increase.  New York State and the Federal government have continued to cut monies to social programs, such as Medicaid, food stamps and housing support which brings larger numbers of those who are struggling to survive to the Churches.  The growing gap between the wealthy and the working poor continues to widen and any employment which pays a survivable wage with health care benefits is rare.  How Emmanuel can best be of service in the midst of these community realities continues to be a major question which the Vestry of the Parish continues to wrestle with.

God cares! And we care as Jesus Christ teaches us!

In Emmanuel Parish, we have two primary ways of doing outreach ministry.

  • Our Daily Bread Food Pantry is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to Noon and is also open on Monday and Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  It is Closed on Friday afternoons and Observed Holidays.
  • Outreach Commission directly assists people in the community.
